The salt production process starts when the seawater is collected and taken to the first evaporating pond; from there, it is taken to the following evaporating ponds by gravity, where natural evaporation caused by the actions of the sun and wind gradually increase the concentration of the salts present in the water, up to a point when the brine is almost completely saturated with sodium chloride.
After this phase, the water is transferred to the crystallizing ponds, where, after the salt precipitates, the water is drained and the salt is harvested.
